What is a life coach?

A life coach is someone that listens to you, acts as a sounding board, provides tools and guidance as you dive deep to identify what truly inspires and drives you, helps you set goals and create action plans, and keeps you focused and on track as you transform aspects of your life.

What is a professional/career coach?

We use the term professional coach to refer to coaching in the area of your career and professional life.  We can assist with career transitions, goal setting, college majors, and other area of your professional life.  Although we can assist with career direction, we do not get involved in many of the details of the job search.

What is the difference between personal coaching and life coaching?

These terms are generally used interchangeably.

What is the difference between professional coaching and life coaching?

Professional coaching is focused more on someone’s career while life coaching is focused more on their life in general.  We use the term professional coaching instead of career coaching as we do not delve into career testing and the details of the job search.  Instead we focus on helping people find their passion, make directional changes in their career, and fine tune professional skills.

What is the difference between therapy and life coaching?

Life coaching should never be used for or mistaken for therapy.  Life coaching is for healthy people who are not in need of therapy.  The focus of therapy is on the obstacles or issues seriously affecting one’s life; whereas, the focus of life coaching is on finding solutions to problems for the purpose of enabling the client to move forward towards self identified goals.

What is your coaching style?

Our coaching style is a very individualize approach that is geared to the specific needs of the client.  We can work with you in a textbook style approach, an experiential approach, or a more spiritual energetic approach.

Will you tell me how to "fix" my life?

At Imagine If Coaching and Consulting, we will work with you to explore issues and will give you tools that you can use in your life.  We will not under any circumstance tell you the "fix."  Fixing things in your life is most effective when it comes from you.

What is the format of coaching sessions?

Many of our coaching sessions can be done via phone, Internet, or in person.  A few of the sessions may have limitations when held via phone or Internet.

The format of coaching sessions begin with an intake, where we briefly discuss any information that we need for the session including any homework and results since the last session.  Then we move into the session itself.  We end with a wrap-up that summarizes key points and discuss upcoming homework.

How long do coaching sessions last?

A majority of the sessions last one hour.  There are a few exceptions.  Longer sessions do cost extra and are identified in advance.

Are sessions confidential?

We consider all sessions confidential.  It is possible, however,  that you will see another client upon arrival or when you depart.

How many sessions will I need?

No two people are the same.  Therefore, the number of sessions is difficult to accurately determine.  We do not require contracts.  Services can be purchased as a package or on a session-by-session basis.

Many coaches recommend regular sessions for a minimum of six months.  In some cases, periodic follow up visits may be recommended to help ensure you remain on a positive path towards achieving your goals.

Where do I start?

You have already started by identifying the desire for some assistance in improving your life.  The next step is to contact us so we can arrange an initial consultation and ensure Imagine If Coaching and Consulting is the right match for your needs. From there, we will prepare a plan for your sessions based on what you want to achieve along with scheduling a time for your initial session.

Do you work with people of all ages?

We work with people age 13 and over.  There are limitations, however, on the services provided to anyone under the age of 18.  All services for minors must be performed with the consent of a parent/guardian.  A parent/guardian will be required to be present for most sessions.  We reserve the right to refuse specific services to anyone, especially to minors.  If we feel a service is not appropriate for a teen, we will not provide the service.

What forms of payment do you take?

We take cash and most major credit cards. The acceptance of checks requires prior approval.

Do you do workshops, presentations, or group sessions?

Yes. Workshops, presentations, and group sessions are tailored to your specific needs.  See Workshops for more details.

Are there people that you will not take on as a client?

Since we want people to have successful outcomes,  we will decline the potential client's business if we feel that we are not the best fit for the client or feel that the services requested are not appropriate due to circumstances in the potential client's life.

If a potential client is undergoing therapy we will only take that person on as a client with the consent of the therapist.

We do not take clients that would be better served by a therapist or a medical doctor and who are not currently under such care. In particular,  we do not take clients that have serious disorders, such as, bi-polar or schizophrenia. Any client currently in therapy requires written approval of the attending physician and/or therapist prior to the commencement of service.

We also reserve the right to limit services to a client or discontinue service at any time.
